TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - Texarkana, Texas police have arrested a DeKalb man for filing a false robbery report, after they say he made up a story to cover up a "possible act of prostitution."
Police were called to the 1000 block of Texas Boulevard on Tuesday evening, where 42-year-old Shane Elliot of DeKalb claimed he'd been robbed at gunpoint. In the course of their investigation, officers determined the whole story was a fabrication, made to cover up possible illegal activity involving an act of prostitution.
Elliot is now charged with filing a false report to a police officer, which is a Class B misdemeanor in Texas. His bond was set at $2,000.
41-year-old Demetria Newton of Texarkana was also arrested and charged with failure to identify and possession of a controlled substance.
