SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - UPDATE: Caddo Parish Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma tells KSLA News 12 that Jay Greenleaf did not die from a direct lightning strike.  Dr. Thoma says tests will take several weeks to confirm, but the actual cause of death may have had something to do with the electromagnetic energy from the lightning in the area at the time.

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport attorney has died on a local golf course, after reportedly being struck by lightning.

It happened around 7:00 Tuesday evening at the East Ridge Country Club.  A manager there tells us 49-year-old Jay Greenleaf was golfing when he was reportedly hit.  A witness saw lightning in the area.

He was taken to Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital where he died from his injuries.  Caddo Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma cannot confirm Greenleaf died from a lightning strike, and will perform an autopsy Wednesday morning to get an official cause of death.

Greenleaf was an attorney at Anderson Oil & Gas.
