Fellow Redwater students remember murdered classmate
REDWATER, TX (KSLA) - Tears flowed freely at Redwater Middle School Friday, as students held a memorial for murdered classmate Guinevere Doss.
"She was a very close friend of mine. It has been a very hard week or two," says Carrie Page, a Redwater student remembering her friend.
The 11-year-old was found murdered, along with her 8-year-old brother Texas Johnson and their mother, 34-year-old Amanda Doss in their burning home early on the morning of May 11th. Investigators have since determined that all three died violent deaths before the fire was set. Investigators say they do not have a suspect or a person of interest in the case.
Grandparents Glen and Wanda Prewitt were on hand Friday for Guinevere's memorial. "It is very moving to know Guinevere touched so many lives and she was a friend to so many people. It is very touching to see their classmates."
In their final assignment before summer break, students expressed their love for Guinevere, and vowed never to forget her with the release of hundreds of balloons. "We tell them to go home and have good memories of their friend and do what she did and enjoy life," explains principal Lindsay Crain.
Faculty at the school also had t-shirts designed showing the Doss family, which will be sold to raise money to establish a scholarship fund. Those shirts can be ordered by contacting the Redwater ISD.
