Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Ernest Luttrell's family has had their first chance to grieve today, two days after the funeral of 73-year old Ernest Luttrell and six days after his murder.

A special memorial service took place this morning at Brookwood Baptist Church in Shreveport.

Many of his longtime friends remembered the good times and memories, not his tragic ending.

"He saw me at the door one day and he was on his four-wheeler out there and he waved and he started pointing and I looked where he was pointing and a deer went bouncing across there but that was the type person he was, you know, he was just as good as gold," said Shirley Harris, a longtime neighbor of Ernest Luttrell.

Caddo Detectives arrested Luttrell's wife of 50-years, Loretta Luttrell, right after her husband's funeral last Thursday.

Investigators said that she allegedly plotted to have her husband killed so she could sell the property they lived on and give the money to a family member. Loretta has been accused of hiring two people, Tina Van-Markaque and Erick Crain, to carry out the 'murder for hire' plot.

Van-Markaque was arrested Wednesday and Crain on Tuesday.

All three suspects are now being held at the Caddo Correctional Center.
