Shreveport man gets life in prison for murder

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) –A Shreveport man will serve life in prison for murder of another Shreveport man, during a drive by shooting back in 2008.

22-year-old Broderick Jerome Brooks Jr. was sentenced Tuesday in Caddo Parish District Court for his part in the drive-by shooting death of Donte Gilbert, he was found guilty back in February of 2010.

Caddo District Attorney Office officials say Brooks will serve his life sentence without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

Officials say Brooks was one of 10 individuals charged in the August, 2008 drive-by which killed Gilbert and wounded another individual at a home in the 500 block of Springhill.

Two co-defendants in the case, 21-year-old Norman Frazier and 20-year-old Corey Roberson were also found guilty for their part in the drive by shooting and are currently serving 12 year sentences in prison.
