GSU basketball player dies after a heat stroke

GRAMBLING, LA (KSLA) - A Grambling State University basketball player has died after suffering a heat stroke during a preseason practice.

A statement from GSU said Henry White became was hospitalized following participation in conditioning exercises on August 14, and died Wednesday morning at a Shreveport hospital.

The university said White just recently joined the Tiger basketball team. White played for Washington High in Milwaukee before playing his freshman year of college basketball at Marshalltown Community College.

For his sophomore year he transferred to Hill Junior College in Texas. From Texas he came to Grambling with two years of eligibility.

GSU has launched a full investigation to find out what exactly caused his death.
