Watching the nightly news was a family ritual growing up in James’ home and his favorite part of the news was always the weather forecast, especially when snow was in the forecast. James has had a strong passion for the weather and forecasting his whole life.
James grew up in Akron, OH and earned a B.S. Degree in Atmospheric Science from Purdue University. Before joining NBC15, He worked at KAUZ NewsChannel 6 in Wichita Falls, TX and at KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, LA. During his time in tornado alley and dixie alley, James tracked a lot of severe weather. In December 2015, James tracked all the seasons in one day. There was severe weather in north central Texas and blizzard conditions in west Texas.
After spending 6 years in the south, James and his wife Melissa are excited to be back in the Midwest and Big Ten country. One of the things James and Melissa missed the most living in Texas and Louisiana was fall and winter. James and Melissa also adopted cat while living in Shreveport. He is an orange tabby named Colonel Honey Mustard.
James loves sports, cooking, movies and traveling. James cheers for his Boilers and all the Cleveland professional teams. His favorite things to cook are chicken wings and Mickey Mouse pancakes. James and Melissa are huge Disney fans and take a trip to Disney World or Disneyland every year.
