19-year-old fatally shot in Texarkana; arrest made

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) - The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24.
The shooting occurred at the Ridge Apartments at 701 N. Oats Street.
When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Gary Nichols suffering from a gunshot wound. Bystanders were already trying to render aid and first responders took over. Nichols died from his injuries on the scene.
TAPD says they have arrested 21-year-old Xavian Banks for second-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Miller County Jail.
