Quarterback Jayden Daniels was 10-of-11 for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Garrett Nussmeier was 5-of-8 for 139 yards and he also threw two TDs.
Kyren Lacy led the wide receivers, hauling in four catches for 92 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown. Brian Thomas Jr. had three catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. Malik Nabers caught three passes for 35 yards.
The running game wasn’t much of a factor. The Tigers only rushed for 86 yards. Running back John Emery still has to take care of his academics before returning to the team and playing, said head coach Brian Kelly. He added they love Emery, but there are still things he needs to tackle academically.
“He might be the one guy we’re sleeping on a little bit,” said Kelly, referring to running back Noah Cain.
Freshman linebacker Whit Weeks scored a touchdown for the defense on a pick-six.
The game always brings out the stars, like these two national champions.
