SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Two males are in custody after around 20 vehicles were stolen from an auto auction in Greenwood overnight.

On Nov. 30 around 6:45 a.m., officers were called out to the Greater Shreveport-Bossier Auto Auction in the 8000 block of Greenwood Road about a theft of multiple vehicles. The Greenwood Police Department says surveillance video of the auction shows that around 1:20 a.m., a black car rammed the gate and got into the facility. Police say about 20 vehicles were stolen.

Not long after, the Greenwood Police Department found a stolen white Dodge Charger and two males on the shoulder of Interstate 20 between Monkhouse Drive and Hollywood Avenue. Police say a representative of the auto auction noticed several cars had been stolen and reported the theft. Greenwood’s assistant police chief and another officer were sent to retrieve the Charger and meet the tow truck that was en route.

When police arrived at the car, two males were putting gas in it. The two males then sped away in a red pickup, and police pursued them along I-20 W. The suspects drove into a field near Shreveport Regional Airport, jumped out of the car and ran into some nearby woods, police say. Greenwood’s chief says he spotted the suspects coming out of the woods near I-20 and the airport. With the assistance of SPD, they were able to take the two males into custody without injury around 9:50 a.m.

Police say the pickup was also found to be stolen from the auto auction lot. Greenwood officials go on to say SPD recovered a Camaro early Wednesday morning that was involved in a wreck; it turns out that car was also stolen from the auto auction.

One suspect is 16 years old and the other is 18 years old; they both face charges at this time, according to Greenwood’s police chief.

Greenwood officials say so far, three of the stolen vehicles have been recovered, including two that were found on the scene along I-20 Wednesday morning. Police are still searching for more suspects believed to be involved with the overnight theft.

The investigation is ongoing. More details will be added as we learn them.
