Leesville man arrested for kidnapping; missing Evans girl found

VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB) - A Leesville man has been arrested on outstanding warrants relating to the disappearance of Kaylee Brittain, 14, of Evans.

Joseph Albert Phillips, 26, was found in Aransas Pass, Texas, along with Brittain, on October 4.

Phillips was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and one count of second degree kidnapping. He will be incarcerated in Texas until he can be extradited back to Vernon Parish.

Arrangements are being made for law enforcement to transport Brittain back to Vernon Parish.

According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, it was discovered that Phillips had attempted to use a stolen cash app card in Aransas Pass. VPSO was able to alert Texas Law Enforcement Agencies and Agents with the United States Border Patrol. Phillips and Brittain were both found in a park.
