SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) — Bossier City police shut down a section of westbound I-20 for a while the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 18 to assist Shreveport police in investigating a deadly shooting.

I-20 W was closed between Industrial Drive and Hamilton Road. Motorists were advised to use westbound I-220.

Police were looking for evidence related to the shooting. Officials say a man was found in a black Jeep Liberty with a gunshot wound to his head on the Shreveport side of I-20, near the Red River bridge.

Shreveport police were called initially called to the scene just before 3:40 a.m. Thursday.

When SPD arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim. The man was sent to a Shreveport hospital with life-threatening injuries. Bossier officials say the victim has died.
