LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The San Augustine County Sheriff’s Office located their missing K9, but the office said, “It is with great sadness as the Sheriff’s Office mourns one of the loss of our members.”

The Sheriff’s office said that Frankie was located approximately three miles away from her residence after being struck by a vehicle and succumbed to her wounds.

Frankie escaped Sunday morning, wearing a signal K-9 collar and resides in the Lufkin area according to the sheriff’s office social media post.

The sheriff’s office said Frankie is verified in patrol work and narcotics, is very friendly and chipped.

Funeral arrangements are pending, the post stated.
