MARSHALL, Texas (KSLA) — A shooting Monday at Citi Trends in Marshall, Texas sent two women to the hospital. And police now believe they know who the alleged gunman is.

He’s believed to be driving a late-model, white, four-door Chevrolet pickup and should be considered to be armed and dangerous, police say.

No photo or description of Hatton was provided by authorities.

It was 4:15 p.m. Monday when Marshall police were called about an active shooting in Citi Trends, a store in the 600 block of South East End Boulevard. The callers stated that the man was still shooting as patrol officers arrived.

“The officers made immediate entry into the store and determined that the shooter had already fled the scene. Two female victims with gunshot wounds were located in the store,” says a statement from police. “Nearby businesses were locked down and the immediate area was cleared for additional threats.”

Marshall Fire Department began rendering first aid to the victims, who then were taken to Christus Good Shepherd in Marshall then to a hospital in Longview, Texas. Their condition is not immediately known.

Mariah Washington, who was working next door at the time of the shooting, told KSLA News 12′s sister station KLTV that a woman came in acting very distraught.

“And she was like ‘Somebody got shot a couple times’ and she was freaking out, panicking. The next thing you know, all you see is a bunch of law enforcement come. And then they tell us go to the back; hide, duck.”

Washington said they were in the back for about a half hour before they were allowed to come out.

Marshall police and Harrison County sheriff’s deputies continue to search for Hatton.

They urge anyone with any information about him to call the Police Department at 903-935-4575. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Marshall/Harrison County Crime Stoppers at 903-935-9969 or use the P3 Tips mobile app.
