HAMMOND, La. (WAFB) - The Hammond Police Department said an 8-year-old boy reported missing has been found safe and his uncle has been taken into custody.

Marlin Wilson, 41, is now in police custody.

Louisiana State Police issued a Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory on Wednesday, May 8, on behalf of the Hammond Police Department in search of the boy. It has since been canceled.

Authorities said the boy left his home in Hammond around 8 a.m. Tuesday and never returned. Troopers said they believed he was with Wilson, who is his uncle, and that he was in imminent danger.

The investigation is ongoing.
