SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Evangel Christian Academy had a tall task on their hands with last year’s state quarterfinalist North Desoto in town.

The Eagles led for a good portion of the contest taking a lead into the top of the sixth inning. This is when the Griffins made their move. A double by Peyton Matthews put a runner on the base paths and the Griffins would end up with two runs in the inning off a single by Landen LeBlanc.

Evangel now down need a run to tie in the bottom of the seventh went utilized a sacrifice bunt to score the tying run. Caleb Lenard tapped the ball perfectly down the left field line and gave North Desoto no play home.

The Eagles had their chance in the bottom of the ninth after a lead off single sent Kody Jackson to first base. Jackson made his way to third on a pass ball and a throw away.

Finally, Evangel’s Jaycee Gill completed a squeeze bunt down the right field line to walk it off in the ninth.
