SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Former Calvary Baptist Academy football standout and former cornerback with the University of Oklahoma, Chanse Sylvie, is reaching back to help the youth from the Shreveport community.

Sylvie has created a foundation called The OneMindSet Foundation, and he wants to make sure students from underserved communities are ready for life after high school.

Through his foundation, he’s fundraising to help students from the Shreveport area with college tours at his alma mater in Norman, Okla. and also Langston University, a historically Black university located in Langston, Okla., about 58 miles from Norman.

Sylvie has partnered with Booker T. Washington High School to help send a group of students from the school on the college tour, as well as the Oklahoma University spring football game.

To help offset the cost of the trips, Sylvie is looking for 10 people or businesses to donate $300 each. It’s a tax deductible contribution. Sylvie is also selling hoodies to help offset the cost. Those will go on sale on the foundation’s website starting Monday, March 28.

You can also stay up to date with The OneMindSet Foundation by texting the word “UPLIFT” to 1-844-658-1049.
