SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Sources confirm former Shreveport City Councilman James Flurry has died after a long battle with cancer.
Flurry once served as the councilman for District E. He spent eight years on the council, serving 19 years overall in public service.
He resigned from the position in late 2021 after moving to southeast Shreveport, outside of his district.
According to family members, funeral services will be held at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home’s Southside Drive Chapel. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Park West.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or St. Jude Research Children’s Hospital in Memphis Tenn.
