SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Two people were shot, leaving them in life-threatening condition, when gunfire erupted Thursday night on the streets of Shreveport.
And police said there’s possibly a third victim.
“It’s all connected. “There was some kind of gun battle on foot,” said a police spokesman at the crime scene in the 4400 block of Rosary Lane.
That’s the site of the recreation center behind which a man in his 20s was shot. He has been taken to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment of a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.
An older man got shot while driving his truck.
“He just got hit by the gunfire,” the police spokesman said. “We don’t think he was involved at this time.”
The bullet struck the older man in the lower part of one of his ankles. He then drove about two blocks to Oakdale Street at Wallace Avenue.
Details were not yet available about a third victim possibly on Clanton Street.
The night’s events began to unfold when police dispatchers got calls at 7:40 p.m. about gunfire on Hickory Street between Bernstein Avenue and Rosary Lane, Caddo 911 dispatch records show. Eight minutes later, a shooting was reported on Oakdale.
At one point, police had 11 units at the scene on Rosary Lane and another nine on Oakdale, dispatch records show. That later was consolidated to 19 units on Rosary.
