BEHIND THE SCENES: Krewe of Centaur prepares for 2022 parade
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - As this year’s king, queen and other royal members of the Krewe of Centaur prepare for a busy weekend — they took time to give KSLA a sneak peak of this year’s floats.
Krewe members met at their den, located just off North Market Street in Downtown Shreveport.
The night before the parade, it’s tradition to meet at the den for a float loading party. Krewe members and people from the community put the final touches on the floats and loaded them up with beads and goodies. This year’s theme is 30 years of Fantasy.
Kristina Morris says they have been preparing for the parade since last year, and this will be her seventh time riding with the krewe.
“It’s such an incredible experience to be on the floats and get back out there in the community. Everybody that I have talked to, we’re super excited about getting to finally roll,” she said.
Some attendees said it was fun to see the floats up close and personal.
“We pass out a lot of our specialty beads that we don’t throw because they break in the crowds. We pass out a lot and they get that one-on-one interaction. The floats go by so fast, they get to actually look, see, touch, and all that stuff,” said parent Brittany Pool.
The parade is set to roll out on Saturday at 3 p.m.
