SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A man died after being shot inside a Shreveport store.

The Caddo coroner’s office identified him as 29-year-old Roderick D. Walker, of Devaughn Street in Shreveport.

The shooting at Village Food in the 5300 block of Jewella Avenue occurred about 1:38 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.

Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Investigators learned Walker and Damion Sherfield engaged in an argument inside the store. During the dispute, Sherfield pulled out a gun and shot Walker. Detectives don’t believe the men knew each other.

A customer identified Walker as a store employee. He was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health, the Shreveport hospital where he died at 4:11 p.m.

His death marks Caddo Parish’s 10th homicide of the year.

Sherfield surrendered himself to investigators on Thursday, Feb. 17. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
