SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Shreveport woman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding SWEPCO for more than $5,000.

Tiffany Tyshun Bendaw, 32, is accused of making more than 40 fraudulent payments to SWEPCO between December 2020 and May 2021, authorities say.

An investigation revealed that Bendaw made payments using allegedly fake bank accounts or accounts that she owned that were closed or had insufficient funds, the Sheriff’s Office reports.

Bendaw was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Nov. 30 and booked into the Shreveport City Jail about a half hour later after being found to “... have felony warrants and fugitive warrant from CPSO,” according to the booking narrative.

She later was transferred to Caddo Correctional Center, where she was booked at 12:29 a.m. Dec. 1 on one count each of bank fraud, theft and issuing worthless checks. Her bonds on the three charges totaled $17,000.

Bendaw has been free on bond since being released about 8 p.m. the same date, booking records show.
