NATCHEZ, La. (KSLA) — An adult and two children have been struck by a GMC pickup in the Natchitoches Parish village of Natchez.

Dispatchers got the call just after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13 near a dollar store on Louisiana Highway 1 near Louisiana Highway 119.

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS personnel have taken the adult, who is 37 years old, and the two youths, ages 10 and 6, to the Natchitoches hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening, Natchitoches sheriff’s Capt. Tony Moran said.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 75-year-old woman was driving the GMC pickup on La. Hwy 119 and stopped at the intersection of La. 119 and Hwy 1 in Natchez.

The driver of the pickup turned left to head south on Hwy. 1, with the intention of going to the Dollar General. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old woman and the two children were attempting to walk across Hwy. 1. That’s when the driver struck the woman and the two children as she was turning.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash; however, the driver did submit a sample for a blood alcohol test.

No citations were issued, according to authorities.
