SUV hits pedestrian, killing him, in Blanchard
Man was in middle of road when he was struck by the vehicle, authorities say
BLANCHARD, La. (KSLA) — A vehicle struck a pedestrian, killing him.
Caddo 911 dispatch records show it happened in Blanchard at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21.
That’s when Caddo Fire District 1 dispatched four units to an EMS event on Wasson Road just north of Blanchard Lake Drive. That section of Wasson Road was closed temporarily.
At the same time, the Caddo Sheriff’s Office sent four of its units to a major traffic accident at that location. That number later grew to a half dozen.
Authorities say a man, age not immediately available, was in the middle of the road when he was struck by a small SUV that was heading south.
The driver, who was not injured, called 911 and stayed there to await first responders. A child who was sitting in a back seat of the SUV also was unhurt.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Caddo Fire District 1 EMS personnel.
Deputies said the driver showed no signs of impairment. As required by state law, they obtained a blood sample from the driver.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
