DeSOTO PARISH, LA. (KSLA) - A Shreveport man is dead following a crash that took place on Monday, Sept. 13.

Lakendrick Thomas, 37, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was driving a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer.

Dispatchers got the call just before 11 a.m. to a crash at the intersection of Highways 5 and 3015.

According to Louisiana State Police’s (LSP) initial investigation, another driver, who was driving a 2019 Peterbilt tractor-trailer northbound on Hwy. 5. At the same tome, Thomas was driving southbound on Hwy. 5.

At some point, the driver of the Peterbilt lost control of the truck. As a result, the Peterbilt’s trailer struck the cab of Thomas’s Kentworth.

The driver of the Peterbuilt was restrained and not injured. Thomas was also wearing his seat belt; although, he suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

“Impairment is not suspected to be a factor; however, routine toxicology results were submitted for analysis,” reads a news release from LSP. “The crash remains under investigation.”
