TEXARKANA, Ark (KSLA) - The Texarkana Arkansas School District has announced they will continue to require staff and students to wear masks until the school board meets to discuss changes, if any, for the remainder of the school year.
This announcement comes after Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced he will not be extending the state’s mask mandate.
The District says they will continue to follow guidance from the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Education in order to maintain safe in-person learning procedures.
TASD says they attribute their in-person learning success to the mitigation strategies they have implemented such as social distancing, reduced class sizes, mask-wearing, disinfecting and handwashing.
The TASD Board of Directors have not made a formal decision to continue, modify or eliminate policies on mask requirements at this time.
