SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A man has died following a house fire Wednesday morning.

Crews were called just after 12:30 a.m. on March 3 to the 6400 block of Canal Boulevard in the Sunset Acres neighborhood about a one-story house on fire.

Crews on the scene spotted light smoke and flames coming from the home’s attic. When firefighters entered the house, they performed a quick search and found the victim in the front part of the house, SFD officials say. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the man as Ralph Adger, 47. He was positively identified through fingerprint comparison. An autopsy has been ordered.

Firefighters on scene had the fire under control by 12:45 a.m. Eight units and 20 firefighters were involved. No firefighters were injured.

The state fire marshal and Shreveport Fire Department’s fire prevention crew were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire, which has not yet been determined.

SFD says this is the second fatal fire in Shreveport so far in 2021.
