Hit and run claims life of Shreveport woman; police looking for person responsible

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A person was found dead in the street Tuesday night (March 2). Police are now investigating the incident as a hit and run.

A Shreveport police officer who was driving by discovered the body of a woman Tuesday night on Brookwood Church Way just off West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Police say the woman was unresponsive and not breathing. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Some debris also was found in the road. SPD officials say the preliminary investigation suggests the victim had just got off work at a nearby restaurant and possibly walking to a bus stop near Linwood and Bert Kouns Industrial Loop when she was hit. Based on evidence found at the scene, the vehicle involved may be a dark blue 2006 to 2008 Toyota RAV-4, police say. It may have damage to its passenger side front bumper.

The investigation is ongoing.
