SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - People 70 and older will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine much sooner than expected. The vaccine will be available Monday, Jan. 11, in northwest Louisiana.

Starting Monday morning, LSU Health Shreveport will be able to vaccinate at least 800 people per day through a drive-thru service at the Louisiana Fairgrounds.

Any Louisiana resident age 70 or older can get a vaccine, but they need to register online first. After registration, you will then receive a confirmation email.

The hospital will be vaccinating people for the next few weeks and will then move on to other parishes in northwest Louisiana.
