Barksdale begins first phase of administering COVID-19 vaccines

BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KSLA) - Barksdale Air Force Base (BAFB) has received its first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and will start administering them to base personnel Wednesday, Jan. 6, officials with the based have announced.

Those who will receive the vaccine first include base healthcare workers, emergency response personnel, and those who perform installation defense duties. Other personnel will be vaccinated during the next phase.

Per Department of Defense and CDC guidance, those prioritized for vaccination include medical staff, those maintaining essential national security efforts and installation functions, deploying forces, and beneficiaries at high risk for COVID-19.
