Arkansas 3-month-old dead; babysitter in custody

ASHDOWN, Ar. (KSLA) - Southwest Arkansas authorities are working to learn more following the death of an infant on Monday, Jan. 4.

Authorities say the call came in around 5:30 p.m. to a home in the 600 block of S. 5th Street regarding an unresponsive three-month-old boy.

On the scene, police found the infant on the couch. Lifesaving measures by police were performed until EMS arrived on the scene.

The infant was taken to a Southwest Arkansas hospital. Police have confirmed that the infant has died.

Ashdown police say the infant’s babysitter is in custody. She is not facing any charges at this time.

The infant’s death remains under investigation.
