SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A woman suspected of stealing packages off residents’ porches is being held in Shreveport City Jail.

And a search of her home in Shreveport turned up a number of items that had been reported as stolen, police Cpl. Glen Heckard said.

“Items that were seized will be released back to the victims by investigators.”

Police arrested 38-year-old Melissa Griffin on eight misdemeanor theft charges at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday then booked her into the lockup at 12:12 p.m. the same day. No bonds have been set.

At the same time, her boyfriend was arrested on an outsanding warrant. Jason Rogers, 46, of Shreveport, is being held in the City Jail on charges of being a fugitive and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Griffin’s arrest comes as a result of an investigation into reports of thefts of Christmas packages throughout Shreveport last month, Heckard said.
