SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Celebratory gunfire on New Year’s Eve isn’t new, but one Shreveport man’s video shows how wild people brought in the new year.
Robert Thomas Jr. captured the sounds of dozens of shots in his Ingleside neighborhood. At one point, you can’t even hear his voice over the gunfire. But you can hear him say:
“We are in Ingleside, Shreveport, Louisiana. Two minutes before midnight. New Year’s Eve, y’all. And listen to all this (expletive deleted) chaos going on. Y’all think 2021 going to be better than 2020?”
His video has been viewed thousands of time since being posted online Thursday night.
“This is why we have 80 something murders. This happens almost every night across the city,” Thomas explained. “How can the poorest people get these high-powered guns?”
In 2020, Shreveport saw a record number of violent crimes.
Thomas wants law enforcement to start working on getting illegal guns off the street.
