BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. (KSLA) — Residents of a Barksdale Air Force Base neighborhood are being advised to boil their water.
The military installation reported that there was a loss of water pressure in Heritage Heights the night of Wednesday, Dec. 30.
“The base is taking care of the necessary repairs,” says a post on the base’s Facebook page.
“Once the necessary steps are completed, Heritage Heights will be under a boil water advisory until further notice.”
A boil advisory means everyone should disinfect their water before consuming it. That includes water used in fountain drinks and to make ice, brush your teeth and rinse or prepare food.
The advisory does not apply to water used for bathing or showering.
TIPS FOR DISINFECTING WATER
- Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container.
- The minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
- The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.
Heritage Heights, a neighborhood on Barksdale’s east side, is “our most diverse community” and offers traditional and contemporary two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, according to Barksdale Family Housing.
