SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Louisiana deputy fire marshals are investigating a house fire that happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26 in the 5300 block of North Market Street in Shreveport.

Caddo Parish Fire District 1 firefighters were first on the scene.

The bodies of two people, one male and one female, were found near the front door inside the home.

Officials with the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (LAOSFM) say once firefighters forced their way into the house to put out the fire, they found the body of a man at the door, with keys next to his hand, as well as the body of a woman a few feet away.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Tanna, 62, and Michael Quackenbush, 63. Michael’s identity was confirmed through fingerprinting, and Tanna’s identity is presumed pending scientific identification. Autopsies have been ordered for the couple.

LAOSFM officials say the fire started in the living room. It’s unknown what exactly caused it, but foul play is not suspected, authorities say. A smoke alarm was found in the house, but it’s unclear if it was working at the time of the fire.
