CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA) - The first African American constable in northwest Louisiana was inaugurated Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Tony Hunter was inaugurated as the Caddo Parish Ward 5 constable.

“It means history. I’m the first but I won’t be the last to serve the constituents in this ward, to embrace and bridge the schools, the businesses, the churches, and the community together as one. Regardless of your creed, your race, your color, republican, or democrat or independent,” said Hunter.

He celebrated Wednesday with friends and family. Hunter says it’s an honor to represent Ward 5.
