Firefighters battle house fire on Earl Street

Fire heavily damages Shreveport residence

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Shreveport firefighters battled a house fire today at approximately 5 p.m. in the 1800 block of Earl Street in Shreveport.

Fire Engine 9 was the first unit on the scene, reporting heavy smoke and visible flames coming from a single-story wood frame home.

Firefighters entered the home through the front door and were able to extinguish the fire.

The residents of the home were not inside when the fire started.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in approximately 24 minutes, however, the home suffered significant damage.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
