BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) — Preliminary investigation shows a man was shot dead by Bossier City police officers during an altercation Saturday, according to Louisiana State Police.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity.
The officers were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Plaza Circle at 7:59 p.m. when the fatal shooting occurred, the city has reported.
At the Police Department’s request, investigators with the Bossier field office of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were called in about 8:30 p.m. to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
“After the officers made contact with the residents, an altercation occurred with a male subject,” Trooper First Class Brent Hardy said of the preliminary findings. “During the altercation, the male was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
None of the officers was injured, LSP reports.
In keeping with depatmental policy, city spokeswoman Traci Landry said, the two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave pending completion of the Louisiana State Police investigation.
