Man surrenders after allegedly shooting wife in head

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Authorities are investigating after a woman was shot in the head at the Cedar Creek Village Apartments in Shreveport. It happened around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Dean Road and Bernadette Lane.
According to police, the 44-year-old victim’s injuries are life-threatening.
Investigators with the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene and immediately launched an investigation. While detectives interviewed witnesses, CSI gathered evidence from the scene.
They learned that following a dispute, Lonnie James, 57, of the 3500 block of Cedar Creek Drive, armed himself with a firearm and shot his wife in the head, then fled the scene.

James later surrendered himself at the Caddo Parish Correctional Center. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
