Coroner identifies west Shreveport apartment complex shooting victim

CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA) - The Caddo Coroner's Office has identified the victim in a fatal shooting on Wednesday evening.

Andre D. Braggs, 23, of Shreveport, was shot in both legs at the Olde Salem Apartments on Buncombe Road in west Shreveport. He was taken to a Shreveport hospital where he later died.

Braggs was identified by his fingerprints.

Three other people were injured. An autopsy will be performed.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, Braggs and a 36-year-old man were found with life-threatening injuries. Also at the scene, an 11-year-old was also injured. All three were sent to a Shreveport hospital.

Later Wednesday night, a 19-year-old man was dropped off at a hospital.

“Investigators with the Crime Scene and Violent Crimes Unit were summoned to the scene and launched their investigations. Detectives learned through witness interviews that two juveniles engaged in a dispute that spilled over into an argument between adults,” reads a news release from Shreveport police. " Investigators believe that the 19-year-old man, the 23-year-old man, and another that has not yet been identified, went to the apartment of the 36-year-old man armed with guns and a gunfight ensued shortly afterward. Multiple shots were fired between the group of individuals and the 36-year old man. The 11-year-old was the son of the 36-year-old man and was part of the original dispute on the basketball court.”

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding the matter is urged to contact Shreveport police at (318) 673-7300 or Shreveport-Caddo CrimeStoppers at (318) 673-7373, visit the group’s website, or the P3Tips app to submit information anonymously.
