SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A manhunt is underway after a suspect shot at a Caddo Parish sheriff’s patrol deputy Monday afternoon.

It happened around 12:36 p.m. near Jefferson Paige Road at Clim Lane in Shreveport, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.

The deputy was following up on a tip that a man wanted in connection with a shooting last week in Shreveport had been seen in the area, the Sheriff’s Office reports.

The deputy spotted the man on the road and tried to speak with him. The man drew out a gun and fired at the deputy but did not hit him, authorities say.

The deputy returned fire. It is not known whether the suspect was hit.

Now sheriff’s deputies are searching on foot in the 8200 block of Jefferson Paige Road. They also are using a drone and K-9s.
