Egan Street homicide suspect arrested

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Now in police custody is the Shreveport man who is suspected of gunning down a Bienville Parish woman.

Rickey D. Waffer, 33, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Thursday and booked into the Shreveport City Jail at 8:44 p.m. the same day on a charge of second-degree murder, booking records show.

His arrest comes as a result of a Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers tip that investigators received shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

Waffer is accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Ringgold resident Princess Cooper multiple times in a vacant lot.

The shooting happened shortly after 7 p.m. Sept. 18 in the 400 block of Egan Street in the Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood.

Cooper died about an hour later at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport.
