10 train cars derail in downtown Shreveport
“Each car was carrying nothing that posed a threat to the community or the environment"
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — There’s been a train derailment in downtown Shreveport.
It happened at 3:12 p.m. Sunday behind Holiday Inn on Lake Street, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.
The first firefighters on the scene reported there were 10 train cars lying on the sides.
“Each car was carrying nothing that posed a threat to the community or the environment,” Shreveport Fire Department spokesman Brian Watson said.
There were no injuries reported.
“After a complete investigation of each train car, all companies were placed back into service ... .”
At one point, dispatch records show, the Fire Department had five units in the vicinity of Commerce Street. Those have since left the scene.
