MORRIS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Morris County Sheriff’s Office said a lineman was airlifted to the hospital after being shocked by power lines on Monday afternoon. That lineman has been identified in an update from the power company where he works.
On Monday night, the Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative updated the public on the condition of lineman Shawn Henderson. They say he made contact with a hot power line that had been downed by a fallen tree. His crew called 911, and administered CPR and used an AED defibrillator until the ambulance came to the scene, the statement said.
They say he was then flown to a Tyler hospital where he is stable. They say he is talking and in good spirits tonight. It is not known how long he will be hospitalized, though his wife shared a public post stating that he is being taken to Parkland in Dallas soon.
“Shawn, his wife and family appreciate your prayers during this very challenging time,” the statement from BCEC said.
According to Sheriff Jack Martin, around 3:06 p.m. Monday, they received a call about a Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative lineman who had been shocked while working on power lines at 695 U.S. 259 south of Daingerfield.
Martin said other workers from the lineman’s crew were there when it happened and began CPR on the worker.
The lineman was transported by ambulance to Lone Star where he was then airlifted to a Tyler hospital.
