RUSTON, LA (KSLA) - A Louisiana correctional officer is accused of sex crimes involving a juvenile.

State police detectives arrested 35-year-old Christopher Sparks, of Ruston, on Tuesday.

He resigned from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office prior to his arrest, according to Louisiana State Police.

Sparks is being held in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, where he was booked at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday on one count each of sexual battery and molestation of a juvenile.

His bond has been set at $500,000.

The investigation that led to his arrest began when the Sheriff’s Office contacted state police May 12 in reference to a complaint about one of the office’s correctional officers, Troop F’s Master Trooper Michael Reichardt said.
