BOSSIER PARISH (KSLA) - If you live in Bossier Parish, you might soon notice a new Crime Stoppers vehicle on the streets.
It is one of the crime-fighting organization’s latest community awareness efforts.
The car donated by Bossier City Marshal Jim Whitman is decked out with Crime Stoppers logos and contact information.
“It’s a great-looking, eye-catching car. It’s an older-model police cruiser,” Bossier Crime Stoppers spokesman Beau Miguez said.
“I think it’s going be really good for the community. I think it’s going to really further the brand of Crime Stoppers in our area.”
Bossier Crime Stoppers plans to officially unveil the car this weekend during the Defenders of Liberty Air and Space Show at Barksdale Air Force Base.
Plans also call for the car to be displayed in the East Bank Market, parades and Bossier communities.
The goal is to connect with the community, educate residents about Crime Stoppers and encourage them to anonymously leave tips when they have information about a crime.
“People know the name Crime Stoppers. What we are trying to promote is what the Bossier Crime Stoppers is doing for this community with our partnership with the marshal’s office, sheriff’s department and Bossier City police," Miguez said. "They have all obviously been very gracious to our program and helping us get the message of Crime Stoppers out.”
Bossier Crime Stoppers also is putting together a raffle for an AR-15 rifle painted like the American flag. The raffle is to help raise money for the Crime Stoppers program. Details will be announced on social media later this month.
If you have information about any crime, you are always encouraged to call Bossier Crime Stoppers at (318) 424-4100 or download the P3Tips mobile app. You also can learn more on the Bossier Crime Stoppers website.
