Highway 1 closed following derailment

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - LA Highway 1 remains closed on Wednesday morning following a train derailment.

According to the Louisiana State Police Troop G spokesperson, there is no time table on when the roadway will open this morning before 9 a.m.

However, crews may get it open by 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

It happened around 5 p.m. on Tuesday along Louisiana Highway 1 at Yearwood Road. A saltwater truck attempted to pass in front of the train. The impact of the crash caused the locomotive and caused around 20 cars to derail.

The engineer of the train was brought to a Shreveport hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

The driver of the saltwater truck was not injured.

Caddo Parish deputies say that there are no confirmed hazardous material leaks and that no evacuations have been ordered.
