The city’s Fire Department has regained its Class 1 rating.

Fire departments are reviewed every five years then rated on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the best classification available from the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana.

Each improvement in the rating translates into savings on the fire portion of a property owner’s insurance bill.

Bossier City Fire Department lost its Class 1 rating in 2014 due to its response times and some inoperable fire hydrants.

Both of those issues have since been rectified, officials say.

Bossier City Fire Department got word Monday that its rating has been upgraded.
