New principal named for North DeSoto High School

DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - DeSoto Parish Schools announced on Monday the new Principal of North DeSoto High School.

Tammie Phillips, current principal of Leesville High School in Vernon Parish, was named principal of North DeSoto High School on Friday.

“We are excited about the future of North DeSoto High School and the commitment to excellence Mrs. Phillips brings,” said Superintendent Clay Corley, in a news release.

She was selected out of 13 applicants and she will succeed Bart Weaver, who has accepted a job for the school board.

Phillips served as principal, assistant principal and teacher at Leesville High School and was named as Vernon Parish Principal of the Year. During her tenure at Leesville High, she brought the school up to an A status on the statewide accountability system.

The school was also honored with numerous awards and honors for excellence in athletics and co-curricular, extracurricular activities.

“We are blessed with a wonderful staff and student body there, and adding a leader of Mrs. Phillips’ caliber will only add value to one of the top high schools in the area," Corley added.
