SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Caddo Parish officials gathered at the 911 Communications Building to discuss the potential for more rain this week and how it could impact area waterways.
The Red River at Shreveport could see a potential crest of up to 31 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast for Wallace Lake is 154.5 feet and for Caddo Lake 173 feet.
Officials will continue to monitor the situation and work with the NWS to provide updates to those residents who may be affected.
Meantime, sandbags are being made available.
In Bossier Parish, they are at the Bossier Parish Police Jury maintenance facility at 410 Mayfield St. in Benton. It is open from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday unless an emergency is declared.
Sandbags also are available at four satellite locations throughout Bossier Parish:
- South Bossier Fire District 2, 3551 Louisiana Highway 527 in Elm Grove, (318) 987-2555;
- Haughton Fire District 1, 4494 U.S. Highway 80 in Haughton, (318) 949-9440;
- Town of Plain Dealing, 205 W. Palmetto St.; and,
- Town of Haughton, 120 W. Mckinley Ave., (318) 949-9401.
In Caddo, sandbags can be picked up at the City of Shreveport Streets and Drainage/ Public Works Department, 3825 Mansfield Road.
They also can be picked up at the Caddo Parish Fleet Services Department, 1701 Monty St.
Pickup times are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Self pickup is available after 4 p.m. at the Caddo Parish location.
